Expert Rod Crafter, Jack Phillips invites you to a Saturday morning Rod Crafter's Club

The next meeting of the newly-formed club will be November 26th.  Plan to enjoy coffee and donuts at 9am ("scrumptious Saturday"), courtesy of Mosquito Creek Outdoors.  Sharpen your rod crafting skills and pool your knowledge with other builders.  Novices are welcome and will receive plenty of help getting started in the craft.

Jack has been building rods for 20 years.  He started shortly after Hurricane Andrew, when he was stationed in Miami for many weeks,  looking for an after hours activity to help him relax after long days of claims handling.   What started as a hobby has evolved into a vocation for Jack, as his skill and love for the craft has continued to grow.  (see more of his work at FishermansFriendCustomFishingrods.com)

Jack offers not only his expertise but also the use of top equipment.  A Renzetti lathe, drying equipment, and a temperature controlled environment are shared with club members in Jack's shop in Mosquito Creek "Outback".   Jack also makes  uncommon supplies available to members.  He keeps over 200 blanks in stock , including ultralight fly rods, spinning, casting, and blue water rods.  Many of these have been gathered over years of rod building and are considered collector's items by those in the know.

If you have a particular specialty and want to share this, your specialty can be featured in an upcoming meeting.

Jack's class is a great opportunity to get to know a fine person who not only really knows his craft but also has a heart to build up his community.  Two of Jack's latest creations are featured in the 2011 Year End SGF Silent Auction  which will culminate in awards at the Cruising for a Cause Charity Night Dec 7th in Ft. Lauderdale.  Online bidders do not have to be present, but must have the highest bid to win.
