COLLIER COUNTY

After conducting early morning surveillance, Officer Thomas Van Trees pursued a subject who was running to his car while in possession of two snook.  The subject was cited for possession of closed-season and over the limit snook violations.  He was additionally warned for possession of undersized snook and fishing without a license.

HENDRY COUNTY

Officers Taylor and Lilley were on water patrol on the Caloosahatchee River in Hendry County. The officers observed a subject throwing a cast net.  A freshwater fisheries inspection revealed the subject to be in possession of a snook during the closed season.  The subject was issued a citation for the violation.

Officers Richard Dearborn and William Holcomb, while on water patrol on the Alafia River, were conducting fisheries inspections on vessels.  An inspection of a vessel revealed that the individual on board was in possession of a 21-inch snook.  The individual was cited for possession of snook out of season and possession of undersize snook.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY

Officers Richard Dearborn and William Holcomb, while on water patrol on the Alafia River, were conducting fisheries inspections on vessels.  An inspection of a vessel revealed that the individual on board was in possession of a 21-inch snook.  The individual was cited for possession of snook out of season and possession of undersize snook.

LEE COUNTY

Officer Brian Cazalot was on land patrol near New Pass when he observed several individuals throwing a cast net and carrying a bucket of fish.  When he approached the individuals, the male carrying the bucket ran off into the mangroves with the fish.  Officer Cazalot was able to stop all the other individuals, who denied having any fish.  Officer Felix Calazo came to assist Officer Cazalot and, after searching deep back into the mangroves, was able to locate a bucket of snook.  Six misdemeanors were issued for possession of undersize snook, out of season snook, and illegal method of catching snook.

SARASOTA COUNTY

Officer Loren Lowers responded to a complaint of several individuals keeping snook at the Albee Road Bridge.  Officer Lowers located a vehicle and an individual from information received from dispatch.  An inspection revealed two mangrove snapper in a cooler.  The individual told Officer Lowers that he had no more fish; however, Officer Lowers observed a bucket covered with a towel in the vehicle.  A check of the bucket produced a 23 1/2 inch snook.  The individual was issued a citation for possession of snook during the closed season, as well as written warnings for possession of undersized mangrove snapper and snook.
