Snook & Redfish

LEE COUNTY

Officers Stuart Spoede and Gregory Bryson were on land patrol when they approached an individual to conduct a marine fisheries inspection. The officers determined the individual was in possession of several saltwater fish including redfish, snapper, and sheepshead, most of which were under the legal size limit. The subject had previously been cited for possession of illegal snook. The appropriate citations were issued.

MANATEE COUNTY

Officer Tim Hinds responded to a complaint regarding an individual who had been fishing and was in possession of undersized fish at his residence. When Officer Hinds arrived at the residence, the individual admitted to catching fish and discarding the fish carcasses. Officer Hinds found several carcasses of redfish, spotted sea trout, and snook in the trash
can. Officer Louis Hinds arrived to assist, and the subject was asked if he had any more fish. The individual confessed to having more redfish and snook in his freezer. Inside the freezer there were seven redfish, two snook, and two spotted seatrout. The individual was cited for possession of over the limit of redfish, possession of undersized redfish, possession of snook during the closed season, and possession of spotted seatrout during the closed season.

COLLIER COUNTY

RPS Officer Thomas Van Trees conducted a fisheries inspection on a vessel in the Ten Thousand Islands area resulting in seven misdemeanor citations and five warnings for violations that included possession of two undersized and out of season snook and two undersized redfish... (cont.)

Trout

Officer Michael Bibeau and RPS Officer Thomas Van Trees issued numerous misdemeanor citations to a subject for possession two out of season and undersized trout, one undersized Spanish mackerel and one mangrove snapper. The officers were in plain clothes, conducting surveillance at the Chokoloskee Bridge when the incident occurred.

DADE COUNTY

Officers Nate Martir-Negron, Rafael Almagro, and Lieutenant Manny Pomares, issued numerous misdemeanor citations for violations that included interference with an FWC officer, possession of undersized snapper that included mangrove, yellowtail, red, and mutton, and a grossly undersized seatrout. Boating safety citations were issued for
numerous violations and infractions citations were issued for littering and fishing license violations.
