A note from Dan's father

Dan had many interests but fishing was always the constant in his life of 26 years. It was the holy grail for Dan as with many of us. A passion that we often acquire early on that imprints us for life. There was never a time when Dan was ready to come home from a fishing trip. It didn't matter how sun burnt or tired we were, he always insisted on just one more cast. Whether offshore fishing deep or in 10 inches of water on a kayak, the passion was always there. Even if he couldn't drag someone along, he would be out there by himself, often at the Bokeelia pier at sun up, hurrying from one end to the other with his cast net chasing schools of finger mullet that the big snook under the pier seemed to prefer. Paddling a kayak at sunset in the Keys taking in all the sensations of a fishing paradise was another favorite. My memories of him are indelibly etched.

From one parent to another, there is no better way to bond with your children than fishing. It's a vehicle that links generations and takes us to places and wonders that many, unfortunately, will never know. Never miss the opportunity.
